Well, it has been 9 days since surgery. I have lost about 12 pounds, and am slowly recovering. I get impatient when I get tired and need to rest. That might be one of the most difficult things of recovery. I am managing to take a 30 minute walk with Maggie every day, though. She loves it, and so do I.
My wounds are healing well, although the insides still hurt. I imagine it's because a lot of stuff was rearranged, and needs to fit into its new space.
I eat 2 ounces of oatmeal for breakfast, lunch and dinner. In between, I drink protein shakes and sip water. I have had a difficult time figuring out whether or not I am hungry; I need to ask the doctor about that next week.
I'm going to my first support group tonight, and I'm a little excited about that. It will be nice to meet others who have had this surgery, and to ask questions.
I'm having "lunch" next week with some friends. One of them has had the surgery, so we have decided we are going to split a baked potato (2 ounces for me), and just have fun. Tomorrow is when I get to switch up my food plan and add the pureed foods. I'm so excited! Oatmeal has become kind of boring. Tam took me to the grocery store the other night, and I was able to get some baby food, some cottage cheese, some yogurt, and some fish. WhooHoo!!!
I will write more when I have some news. See you all later.
